Sewing Up Horizontally
Finish Off | 1 min read time
Tutorial Overview
We use this method to create an 'invisible seam'. The cast-on and cast-off edges are neatly sewn together, with the finished seam resembling a row of knit stitches. This is the perfect technique to use for joining shoulder seams.
Top Tip: Make sure not to sew too tightly! The finished seams should have some stretch in them.

Step-by-step guide
Step 1:
With the right sides facing you, lay the two knitted panels flat, and line up the cast-on and cast-off stitches.
Step 2:
Thread the sewing needle under and out through the centre of the first V stitch on one of your panels and pull the yarn through.
Step 3:
Thread the needle under and up through the centre of the first V stitch on the opposite panel, and pull the yarn through.
Step 4:
Thread the needle down through the centre of the first V stitch, and up through the stitch next to it. Pull the yarn through.
Step 5:
Repeat these steps until you reach the end of the row.
Step 6:
Gently pull on your yarn to tighten the seam.
Step 7:
Secure the end of your seam by tying a knot in the yarn, and weaving the loose ends through the back of your panels.
