Get Started | 1 min read time
A slip knot is the first step in casting on for most knitting projects. In this video we will show you how to create a slip knot.
Starting from the tail end of your yarn, about 15 centimetres from the end, make a loop.
Place the yarn at the back of your loop.
Pull the yarn through the loop, and tighten to finish your slip knot.
Slip onto your needle, and pull the tail that leads to the yarn ball. Then tighten the slip knot.
Move the knitting needle, with the slip knot, into your left hand.
