Cast off, or bind off, is an essential part of finishing any knitting project. In this video we will show you how to cast off using the standard method.

Step 1:

Knit first 2 stitches

Step 2:

Use left needle to pick up first stitch

Step 3:

Bring the first stitch over second stitch and slide off the needle. Now you have 1 stitch remaining on the right needle

Step 4:

Knit one more stitch so you always have 2 stitches on the right needle. Repeat steps 2-4

Step 5:

On the last stitch, remove needle, cut yarn approx. 25cm and thread yarn through stitch. Tighten

And that’s how you cast off in knitting!
