The Pattern
Note: If you’re unsure how to make a magic ring, visit our online tutorial here.
Start with a magic ring.
1st rnd: 8 dc into magic ring. (8 sts)
Note: This pattern is worked in a spiral. Place a stitch marker in the first stitch of every round to mark the beginning of each round.
2nd rnd: Inc in every st of the rnd. (16 sts)
3rd rnd: Repeat *1 dc, inc * 8 times. (24 sts)
4th – 10th rnds: dc in all sts.
You will now begin decreasing to shape your egg.
11th rnd: Repeat *2 dc, dec * 6 times. (18 sts rem)
12th rnd: dc all sts.
13th rnd: Repeat *2 dc, dec * 4 times to last 2 stitches, 2 dc. (14 sts rem)
14th rnd: dc in all sts.
15th rnd: Repeat *1 dc, dec * 4 times, to last 2 stitches, 2 dc. (10 sts rem)
Begin to firmly fill the egg with toy stuffing before the opening becomes too small
16th rnd: dec to end. (5 sts rem)
Remove the stitch marker. Fasten off your last stitch. Leaving approx. 10cm yarn tail, cut yarn. Thread your needle with the tail, pass it in and out of the top stitches to close the top. Pull tight like a drawstring to completely seal the top of the egg. Weave the yarn tail into the egg.
