How to Crochet Bobble Stitch

Tutorial Overview

Bobbles are created by working multiple stitches into the same stitch. In this video we'll be using double crochet stitches (US terminology). The number of stitches made will determine how chunky the finished bobble will be. Bobbles are often alternated with single crochet stitches in a row. Bobbles can also be worked using treble crochet, half double crochet, and other stitches.

Step-by-step guide

Step 1:

Follow your pattern until you reach the next bobble.

Step 2:

We'll start our bobble stitch with a yarn over.

Step 3:

Then insert your hook into the next stitch, and draw a loop through.

Step 4:

Yarn over again, and draw a loop through the first 2 loops on your hook, leaving the remaining 2 loops on your hook unworked.

We'll repeat these steps 4 times in the same stitch:

• Yarn over, insert your hook through the same stitch, draw a loop through.
• Yarn over again, draw a loop through the first 2 loops on your hook.

Step 5:

Yarn over again, and draw the yarn through all 5 loops.

Step 6:

Now yarn over again and draw through the final loop to close the bobble.
