The Big Connect 2013
Represented by Somewhereto, Stitch & Story was so proud to have been given the chance to meet HRH The Prince of Wales and showcase our business at the 2013 Big Connect event. Held every year, it is one of the biggest business connect events (around 1,000 people attended) which helps businesses in their communities to network with other charities, small/big businesses and social enterprises. The aim is to share, learn, and build powerful networks.
Among the crowd were Fujitsu, Waitrose, M&S, and The Big Lottery fund. Stitch & Story’s stand was right in between Waitrose and M&S - what a rare opportunity for a start-up biz like ours! Not only this but Stitch & Story was one of only 5 groups who got on the call sheet to meet Prince Charles - and he was particularly eager to connect us with Start, one of his campaigns to help promote sustainability!
In anticipation to the big day, we knitted a little bunny and booties for HRH to give to his grandchild - due any time now! We were so pleased that the gift was well received and he even told us to get involve with his campaign for wool! Having perfected the curtsy, one faux pas I did make was when his royal aide later came back to ask for a business card I hadn’t realise he was an aide (everyone on the day were wearing suits) and I asked him if he wanted to sign our newsletter…! Of course, he looked at me funny!
